A message from our CEO, Graham Brown.

Greetings Everyone.

I apologise for my limited visibility around the organisation over recent months whilst I have been covering the transition of the Service Pathways portfolio.

Great work continues across our service portfolios in response to the needs and aspirations of the people who come to, incrementally transforming their lives and circumstances.

We are having constructive discussions about how we realign our services to increase focus upon Transition Pathways and how we can take a more ‘place-based’ approach to service delivery.  This will include further strengthening links with collaborating agencies in local areas. We trust that this will increasingly enhance our capacity to make swift and accurate inter-service and interagency referrals so that clients get the service they need when they need it.

I look forward to seeing many staff and volunteers at our Annual Conference on Monday 23 September when we will be inspired and challenged to consider what happens “When Hope Breaks through…”

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kate McGarry to the role of Executive Leader – Service Pathways.

Kate McGarry

Kate is a strong, steady leader with rich and diverse community sector management experience.  She has deep insights into the multiple factors that contribute to social disadvantage and a genuine desire to respond holistically to the needs of vulnerable people.

Kate comes to us from Anglicare SA where she held the role of General Manager, Community Support since 2014. Previously, she was part of the Executive Team at Anglicare NT, responsible for various portfolios including Counselling, Social Inclusion and Housing and Homelessness.

Kate holds a Master of Social Work and has demonstrated strong empathy and understanding of the issues that vulnerable clients face.  She has sound skills in service development, developing and supervising effective teams, strategic and analytical thinking, and sound professional writing skills, having served as a tender writer during her career.

Kate says: “I look forward to joining Baptist Care SA in the coming weeks and contributing to the significant life-changing work with which it is entrusted for the South Australian community.  I am excited to work with you all as your work speaks to my Christian commitment to stand with people experiencing adversity and offer compassion, belonging and healing in our work.

We look forward to welcoming Kate into our team when commences with us on Monday 14 October.
