Volunteer Gardener – West Care Centre

Located at Baptist Care SA’s West Care Centre in Adelaide, Volunteer Gardeners care for plants and gardens and help create green welcoming spaces for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

We are looking for someone to help us create a green sanctuary at our homelessness hub, where people who are marginalised can feel safe and at peace while surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Volunteer Health Navigators

Baptist Care SA is looking for retired health professionals to act as Volunteer Health Navigators at our West Care Centre.

Working alongside our Pastoral Care Nurse, Volunteer Health Navigators support our clients to co-design healthcare plans and access care.

Based at Baptist Care SA’s West Care Centre, our clients are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness and living with chronic health conditions.

We would love to hear from you if you are a retired health professional who can:

  • Commit to 3-9 hours per week.
  • Commit to at least three preferably 6 months
  • Be available between 9am and 1pm on Mondays to Wednesdays.

Volunteer Hairdressers

Baptist Care SA is looking for hairdressers to give people who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness, kindness along with a haircut.

Through the act of giving a haircut, Volunteer Hairdressers create connections with vulnerable and marginalised community members that helps them to build greater self-esteem and wellbeing.

Volunteer Bunkhouse Leaders – Wirraway Homestead

Located in the Adelaide Hills, Baptist Care SA is looking for Bunkhouse Leaders for our school holiday musters at Wirraway Homestead.

Bunkhouse Leaders lead groups of young people aged 10-17 years through week-long camping musters, while assisting the Wirraway Homestead team to implement an exciting range of activities;  such as horse riding and trail rides, sheep mustering, low ropes, archery, shelter building and bush walking.

We are looking for people who are willing to invest their time in the growth and wellbeing of young people by sharing their stories, listening to others and motivating young people to step out of their comfort zone and soar.   

Bunkhouse Leaders have the chance to form meaningful relationships and friendships with people from all walks of life and be part of exclusive volunteer events where they can socialise and network.

As valued volunteers without whom our School Holiday Musters wouldn’t be possible, Baptist Care SA will support Bunkhouse Leaders to develop their leadership potential through training and upskilling.

Volunteer Community Food Hub Assistant

Located on site with our West Care Centre, Baptist Care SA’s Community Food Hub gives people in need a place to shop for food and essential items at a reduced cost. 

Volunteer Community Food Hub Assistants operate the cash register, scan grocery items, stock shelves, serve clients and screen customers to meet COVID safe procedures.

We are looking for volunteers who can:

  • Commit to one shift per week.
  • Be available between 9am and 3.30 pm Mondays to Thursdays.
  • Work between five and 15 hours per week.
  • Commit to at least three months.

Volunteer Kitchen Assistant

Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre provides free food for people experiencing homelessness.

Volunteer Kitchen Assistants work alongside of our chef to prepare breakfast or lunch.

We are looking for Volunteers who can:

  • Commit to one shift per week.
  • Be available between 9am and 2pm, Monday to Friday
  • Work between five and 15 hours per week.
  • Commit to at least three months

Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistant

Located on site at our WestCare Centre, our Emergency Relief Service supports people experiencing financial hardship.

Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistants support clients by providing food parcels, food vouchers, petrol vouchers and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme prescriptions.

We are looking for Volunteers who can:

  • Commit to one shift per week.
  • Be available between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Thursday.
  • Commit to at least three months

Volunteer Pastoral Care Assistants build positive and supportive relationships with our clients.

We are looking for Volunteers who can:

  • Commit to one shift per week.
  • Be available between 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Commit to at least three months.
