There’s no doubt about it, South Australians are having a tough time.  Severe overcrowding is on the rise and we’ve seen more people sleeping rough – more than 100 every night in inner city Adelaide.

Last year, Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Emergency Relief Program provided 2500 food parcels to 620 people in SA doing it tough. However, in December 2019, government funding for our Emergency Relief program was halved.

With less funds available to purchase food, the program, which has assisted thousands of people over 10 years with emergency food parcels and financial relief, has been forced to reduce relief days from four to two in 2020.

During times of financial crisis, the struggle to feed yourself and your family is very stressful and distressing.
