Meet Marco Iammarino – Developmental Educator

A valued part of our Disability Pathways team, Marco works with clients and their relevant supports to develop a Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP). Marco aims to establish trust with the people he works with and supports. This is achieved by treating everyone with respect and delivering on his promises.

Marco brings a wealth of experience to the Disability Pathways team. “I’ve worked closely with people throughout my working life, both as a Registered Nurse and a Developmental Educator. It is something I find extremely rewarding. I’ve been doing this for 30 years but I still love what I do.”

When asked what sets Baptist Care SA apart, Marco explains “We are approachable, welcoming all people from all walks of life and being flexible in the way we provide our services.”

Marco has assisted clients with challenging behaviours to take strides in their life. Take for example, an adult client that moved from his ageing foster parents’ home in the country to the Adelaide metropolitan area. “At first he wouldn’t leave his room, not even to answer the front door. We worked with him to build his self-confidence and self-esteem. I remember how, weeks later, he went to the letterbox at the front of the house and smiling, declared “I did it!”

When asked what made the relationship work, Marco explains “Being there and providing understanding and compassion helped him develop his self-confidence and self-esteem.”

Marco’s insight and experience is an important part of the Team.
