Moving into Independent Living can be a daunting prospect and that’s where our Supported Independent Living Service (also known as SILS) comes in. In this program, we work with young people aged between 16-18 years, who are under the Guardianship of the Chief Executive or other order or authority who have demonstrated a desire to live independently.
We provide accommodation in Murray Bridge and Mt Gambier where young people can receive outreach support to develop their independent living skills. Together, we support young people to successfully set themselves up within the community and best prepare them to transition out of our service when they turn 18.
We can also provide outreach support to young people until they are 19 years of age if requested from the Department for Child Protection.
SILS in Mt Gambier also provides a stable and safe medium to long-term placement with 24/7 staff support to develop the skills young people need to successfully transition into our supported independent living accommodation.
Referral to this service is completed by the Department for Child Protection.
