If you are a new arrival to Adelaide and would like to make an Australian friend we can help you connect. We also provide support for those who are waiting on resolving their status as well as help for unaccompanied minors.
A child is a child; needing their parents; longing to feel safe. Sadly, this is not always possible. A number of children arrive in Australia alone after they have been separated from their parents in their home countries or at refugee camps.

This heartbreaking situation warrants a caring solution and our Unaccompanied Humanitarian Minors (UHM) Program is the way we do this. As the sole provider of this service in South Australia, we organise residential care and support services to minors on certain visas in Australia who are under the Guardianship of the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection. Other minors may be referred on occasion.
We support these children until they are 18 and ready to move out into the world with new skills and independence.

For children arriving in Australia without their families, there are many unknowns. As they wait to resolve their refugee status, we can provide important services to our clients through a referral pathway to encourage their sense of wellbeing.

These young people are provided with safe accommodation in residential homes and have access to every day help and carer supports – things like English lessons, case worker support and health care all make a big difference as these young people build their resilience.
We provide these services in the Adelaide region, as part of the Status Resolution Support Services for Unaccompanied Minors (SRSS-UAM).
