Travis Doecke – Team Leader, Tumbelin Farm

Team Leader at Tumbelin Farm, Travis is passionate about helping young people overcome the challenges they face.

What does your role involve?

My role as Team Leader has a few components. The first being oversight of the team, but also the day-to-day schedule of clients and staff. We know how important routine and structure is for the life of a person in recovery, so I spend a good chunk of time ensuring we stay on track.

The second is that I coordinate the intake and assessment process. So when you call through a referral, I’ll be the one to answer the phone and guide you through the process. I also help staff and clients troubleshoot any issues that may come up to help ensure our clients have the best chance to enjoy long term recovery.

What makes working at Tumbelin Farm meaningful for you?

It’s all about the people and the relationships we’re able to nurture and that I get to be part of. It takes a huge amount of courage for a young person to go through the process of coming to Tumbelin Farm, so when they do, I stand with admiration. Helping clients and their families navigate the emotional rollercoaster of addiction is a real privilege, and I’m grateful to be part of the process in some small way.

Our clients find themselves in the depths of substance misuse for a whole host of reasons, and one of my most enjoyable roles at the Farm is I’m able to speak words of life and hope into their hearts and minds so they are able to navigate their way out of the darkness.

Watching a client depart Tumbelin Farm as their residential part of the journey is complete, and hearing their stories of change brings great joy to me.
