Tristan’s Story

Living independently, with support

Baptist Care SA client, Tristan, is living in his own home with his Support Workers, taking pride in his place and taking care of his health and well-being.

The transition into his own home was a carefully planned, combined effort between Tristan, his family and Baptist Care SA. He is happy and proud of himself after the big move.

“I do my own washing. I go to the laundromat and do my own washing there,” Tristan explains.

Tristan is up and ready each day at 6am. In between helping with the chores such as taking the bins out for collection every Monday, you will find him with his Support Workers, at the Spud Shop or taking in the scenery on a Murray Paddle boat.

As part of Tristan’s journey to independence he is using public transport, which is something he enjoys. He is also learning to budget and use his money by doing his banking and shopping on Mondays.

“I get to spend it on nice things,” he says.

Thank you, Tristan for sharing your day with us.
