Tumbelin Outdoor Adventure Program receives SACE accreditation

We’ve had some fantastic news with the SACE board recently recognising the Tumbelin Program in the South Australian Certificate of Education. As a result, students in year 8 and above who complete the adventure-based program, can receive 20 Stage 1 credit points.

Tumbelin is an adventure therapy program for young people aged 13-18 who are keen to begin making changes to their alcohol and drug use and improve their mental health.

The program, which includes intensive group and 1-1 work, as well as a ‘peak’ 4-day 3-night wilderness experience, has successfully engaged students in both mainstream and alternative education for over a decade.

The accreditation was received in October 2020, just in time for the 87 students who completed the program last year to receive the SACE credits.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this process. Tumbelin’s new accreditation status is certain to be a factor in young people’s decision to take on the challenges of the program in the future.
