Challenge by Choice
We create environments where students feel safe and encouraged to take risks and step out of their comfort zones. Uncomfortable isn’t unsafe. Learning to take risks in a safe environment is essential to human growth and flourishing.
First Degree Fun
1st Degree Fun is enjoyable while it is happening – and we do plenty of it!
Second Degree Fun
2nd Degree Fun is still fun. It can be difficult and uncomfortable when it’s happening but is awesome when you look back on it! As a teacher, you know your students and what is ‘fun’ for them. We believe the difference between First and Second Degree Fun is time, encouragement and support.
We supply all outdoor equipment required for the expedition including tents, rucksacks, trangias, first aid, emergency shelter, roll mats and base camp gear (marquees, tables and water).
Students need to supply their own clothing, sleeping bag and any medication.
Students also need to bring lunch on the first day and any extra snacks, if required.
We cater for all on and off-site expeditions and can cook on trangias.
Our catering team can create menus for people who have special dietary requirements.
No, sorry. We are unable to provide transportation to our off-site expedition locations.
We allocate one staff member dedicated to the entire expedition program and a second staff member to run logistics.
For certain activities, we assign a second staff to coordinate and support the program to meet safety and industry ratio requirements.
Yes. We can visit schools to provide briefing sessions on tent set up, trangia cooking, packing a rucksack and answer questions, if required.
Our expedition plans are always developed to consider the weather.
Weather is closely and continually monitored prior to and during the expedition, and information is relayed to our staff in the field.
Expedition programs can be adapted when bad weather is encountered. In the event of severe weather, programs can be altered and shortened.
