School camps at Wirraway Homestead

Spanning 72 hectares in the heart of Strathalbyn, in the Adelaide Hills, Wirraway Homestead is the favourite school campsite for up to 100 horse-loving students to experience outdoor adventures.

Best known for its fully facilitated outdoor activities and famous horse riding program, Wirraway offers experiences designed to support students of all ages and abilities in building confidence, resilience and teamwork.

Teachers and accompanying adults can stay in the dormitories alongside students, or in separate, comfortable accommodation with ensuites, heating, and welcoming shared spaces for connection and rest.

School groups can also gather in The Shed, an historic shearing shed now a versatile multi-use space equipped with facilities that support group activities, presentations and learning.

School camps at Mylor Adventure Camp

Stretching eight hectares along the banks of the Onkaparinga River, in the Adelaide Hills, Mylor Adventure Camp is the ultimate school campsite for up to 160 adrenaline-filled students to experience outdoor adventures.

Famous for its fully facilitated outdoor and water activities catering for students of all ages and abilities, Mylor is where kids connect, explore and grow in a stunning natural environment.

Teachers and accompanying adults can stay in the dormitories with students, or in Riverview Retreat—self-contained accommodation with ensuites, air conditioning, combustion heating, and a spacious open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchenette.

School groups can also gather in The Chapel, a versatile multi-use space fitted with a plug-and-play AV system to support learning, reflection and community.

Wirraway Homestead all-inclusive school camp packages:

  • Student accommodation

    Students stay in bunkhouses, most with ensuites, and have access to a shower block. Students will need to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows.

  • Co-designed with schools

    Every camp is designed in partnership with teachers to strike the right balance of challenge and support and to meet curriculum outcomes.

  • Teacher accommodation

    Teachers can stay in Pete’s Place — separate, self-contained accommodation with shared bathrooms and a spacious, air-conditioned open-plan lounge/ dining/kitchen (subject to availability). 

  • Adventure activities

    A huge range of fully facilitated activities tailored to support student outcomes and to suit group size, ability, and ages.

  • Meeting areas

    Groups can gather in The Shed, a former working shearing shed, now a multi-use space with a plug-and-play AV system, various game tables, and a combustion heater.

  • Evening activities

    Evening activities (such as night walks and bonfires) are also available at an additional cost, to provide teachers a break or time to catch up on work, after the main activities conclude at 3.30pm.

  • Accommodation numbers

    Wirraway Homestead can accommodate up to 100 guests. 

  • Catering

    School camp packages include a seasonal menu of breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner – all prepared by our fully qualified staff in our commercial kitchen using fresh ingredients.

    Students stay in modern dormitories fitted with bunk beds and ensuites.

  • Co-designed with schools

    Every camp is designed in partnership with teachers to strike the right balance of challenge and support and to meet curriculum outcomes.

  • Teacher Accommodation 

    Teachers stay in Riverview Retreat or Redgum teachers’ rooms. Riverview Retreat includes separate, self-contained accommodation with ensuites, air conditioning, combustion heating, and a spacious, central open-plan lounge/ dining/kitchenette (subject to availability).

  • Adventure Activities 

    A huge range of fully facilitated activities, tailored to support student outcomes, and to suit group size, ability, and age.

  • Meeting Areas 

    Groups can gather in The Chapel — a large multi-use space with a plug-and-play AV system. Groups can also gather in our dining rooms and deck, which can convert into AV-enabled multiuse spaces outside of mealtimes.

  • Evening Activities

Frequently Asked Questions 

You will need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow and towel. Please refer to the online portal for a recommended full packing list. 

Our fully catered option includes breakfast, morning or afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner. A set menu will be uploaded to our online portal for your reference, prior to your arrival.

We are experienced in catering for special dietary needs such as lactose, dairy, gluten, egg as well as nut allergies and intolerances. We can also cater for vegan and vegetarian diets. Please provide your dietary requirements via the online portal.

Both Mylor Adventure Camp and Wirraway Homestead are multi-group sites. Each group is allocated an exclusive accommodation zone according to booked number of guests, and an exclusive dining/home space. Programmed activities are facilitated separately. Outdoor spaces are communal.

Each group is provided with a detailed Site Management Plan showing allocated areas. We ask all groups to be respectful of each other and allocated spaces.

Arrival time is 11am and departure time is 1.30pm.

Activities will be adjusted to suit the weather conditions.

All employees, volunteers and placement students have satisfactory Working With Children Checks and up to date Safe Environments for Children and Young People training.
