Peter’s Story

For 25 years, Peter has battled homelessness and severe health challenges. When he first arrived at WestCare, a caring nurse noticed a worrying wound on his ear. That single act of kindness set in motion urgent referrals for a GP, dental care, and hospital treatment—helping Peter get the life-saving care he desperately needed.

“Without WestCare, I’d be either very sick or a dead man.”

Urgent: Help Keep Our Dining Hall Open

At Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre, our Dining Hall is more than just a place to eat—it’s a safe haven for those who have nowhere else to turn. Every day, hundreds of vulnerable South Australians rely on us for a nutritious meal, essential health support, and the warmth of a welcoming community.

Without government funding, it costs around $35,000 each month to keep our Dining Hall open. Rising costs and growing need mean that your support is needed now more than ever.

Peter’s journey is a stark reminder of the real difference our services make. It is through the generosity of supporters like you that WestCare can continue to provide vital services, including:

  • 653 free meals per week
  • 260 kilos of free fruit and vegetables
  • 52 free food parcels
  • 38 free food vouchers
  • 137 free loaves of bread
  • Essential low-cost groceries for 305 customers

Your Impact

Your donation directly helps us keep our Dining Hall open, ensuring that people like Peter receive not only food but also the care, dignity, and hope they deserve. Every contribution, big or small, makes a profound difference in the lives of those facing isolation and hardship.

Please donate today to help us continue our life-changing work. Your support ensures that our Dining Hall remains a place where every person is seen, valued, and given a chance at a better future.
