Baptist Care SA Inaugural Awards Recognition Program for School Students.

In 2019, Baptist Care SA’s programs and staff touched the lives of thousands of school students ranging in age from 6 – 18. Our Family Mental Health Support Services (FMHSS), Urban Education Options (UEO), Youth Employment and Training Services (YETS) and Adventure Camping offer a broad range of programs designed to improve students’ knowledge, skills, health and wellbeing.

In recognition of student achievement, each of the four programs offered an Award to partnering schools:

The Engagement Award (YETS) was offered to a student who consistently demonstrated commitment and persistence in their learning. Their positive attitude enabled them to be successful in their learning and opened up opportunities for their future as a participating member of the community.
Winner: Olivia Mill, Roma Mitchell Secondary College

The Compassion Award (FMHSS) was offered to a student who consistently demonstrated good inter-personal skills, the ability to work well with others and a sense of positive self-worth. Their optimistic attitude enabled them to be successful in their learning and opened up opportunities for their future as a participating member of the community.
Winners: Maretha van Hoving, Tyndale Christian School; Sithuki Kalugala-Hewage Don, Littlehampton Primary School

The Courage Award was offered to a student who consistently demonstrated passion and commitment in outdoor education challenges and understands the importance of being a team player, forming strong peer relationships to connect and grow.
Winner: Taylor Bone, Emmaus Christian College

The Pathways Award (UEO) was offered to a student who consistently demonstrated compassion and empowerment. Compassion towards those who are doing it tough, with a commitment towards helping them transition from adversity to opportunity. The students demonstrated this by a regular commitment to a particular group or cause.
Winners: Alana Gallagher, King’s Baptist Grammar School; Ella Heath, Temple Christian College

“It is important to celebrate and recognise an award that is focused on the character and values that are displayed by a student at school. These skills are important for our future leaders in the community,” Nicos Saredakis.
