Overnight accommodation
When the temperature soars or plummets, Baptist Care SA is the only South Australian provider to open its door to rough sleepers for overnight accommodation.
People sleeping rough are vulnerable and at an increased risk during extreme weather events.
When the SA Govt calls a Code Red or Code Blue, Baptist Care SA responds by opening the doors of the WestCare Church to anyone experiencing homelessness.
We provide a safe place to sleep overnight, a sleeping bag to keep, nutritious meals, hot showers, laundry facilities and connection with further support.
By remaining open overnight, Baptist Care SA offers kindness and connection to those who are most vulnerable in our community.
Free and low cost meals
Bringing our community together for food and companionship.
Each weekday morning, we open our doors and invite our neighbours from all walks of life to come together and enjoy delicious healthy food in the company of others. Our community breakfasts are prepared by our chef and a team of volunteers with food that has been donated or purchased with donated funds and provided free to our community.
On weekdays other than Wednesdays, lunches are $2.50. The low cost is consistent with our view that providing our community with the dignity of choice offers a hand up rather than a handout.
WestCare Health Service
The issues facing our community are often so confronting they choose to avoid seeking medical care.
Baptist Care SA provides the WestCare Health Service so our community can have equal access to free, culturally safe and trauma-informed care.
- Aboriginal GP Clinic – provided by Nunkuwarrin Yunti.
- Dental clinic – provided in partnership with the Australian Dental Foundation.
- Drug and Alcohol Counselling Service – provided in partnership with DASSA.
- Eye care clinic – Provided in partnership with Flinders University and Sight for All.
- Gym – provided in partnership with UniSA and Pushing Performance.
- Health Navigators – support to access vital health care for chronic conditions.
- Physiotherapy Clinic – provided in collaboration with UniSA.
- NDIS Access Support – provided in partnership with BaptCare.
- Nursing service – provided in partnership with RDNS Silverchain.
