Christmas Day at Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre was a beautiful moment of togetherness, with volunteers, students, staff and community members sharing lunch, connection and the true spirit of the season.

People of all ages and backgrounds gathered at WestCare, including many experiencing homelessness. Spirits were high as our staff and volunteers served 110 meals, featuring a delicious spread of roast meats, vegetables, pudding and a prawn salad that quickly became a crowd favourite.

The Christmas spirit extended well beyond the day itself through our Toy Appeal, which supports families while preserving the dignity of parents and carers experiencing financial hardship. Around 300 families known to Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre were able to experience the joy of giving a gift to their child on Christmas morning, with over 2,000 gifts distributed. This was made possible through the generosity of numerous individuals, churches and businesses whose kindness brought smiles to the faces of 600 children.

As people shared conversation over lunch we were delighted to have Kylie, our Volunteer & Student Placements Coordinator, drop in to personally thank everyone involved and celebrate the generosity, kindness and community spirit that made the day so meaningful.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Christmas at the WestCare Centre so special.
