Tumbelin Outreach

A voluntary 10-week program that challenges and supports young people at risk of harm associated with alcohol and other drug use. This can reduce the impact of substance misuse on young people, their families, carers and communities.

Groups of 10 to 30 young people participate weekly in this group adventure therapy program, which comprises workshops, group adventure activities and camps and expeditions, while being supported to address their alcohol and other drug use and make positive change. One to one support is provided, as needed.

Taking a relational and restorative approach to student wellbeing, family members and significant others are invited to take part in aspects of the program.

The program culminates in a three day/two night expedition and celebration.

There is no cost for eligible participants.

Schools can refer young people directly to Tumbelin Outreach. Young people or their families/carers can refer by contacting headspace.

Eligibility

Young people aged 13-18 with current drug and/or alcohol use.
Catchment area

Barossa/Hills/Fleurieu, Riverland/Mallee/Coorong and Limestone Coast local health network areas.
