They span homelessness, domestic violence, social isolation, hunger and food relief, and health.
People may have lost their job, struggled to find a home, or experienced a relationship breakdown.
Whatever the circumstances that brought them to us, we see everyone as a person to be met, not a problem to be solved.
Each week, we see over 200 people for breakfast and lunch, a hot shower, to use the laundry and connect with social, medical and legal support.
Baptist Care SA staff and volunteers work together to provide our community with essentials and connection with life-changing services.
Each year,we provide approximately 50,000 free community meals through our WestCare Centre kitchen, as a well as vital access to hot showers and a laundry.
Hospitality at the WestCare Centre is more than a meal and cup of coffee.
In the sanctuary of our courtyard where our community gathers, our team lend an ear and provide access to services that are the first step towards long term solutions.
The issues facing our community are often so confronting they choose to avoid seeking medical care.
The WestCare Health Service provides our community with equal access to free, culturally safe and trauma-informed care.
Each day, a variety of nurses, GPs, dentists, and optometrists are available, on site. Along with physiotherapists and small gym.
When the temperature soars or plummets, Baptist Care SA is the only South Australian provider to open its door to rough sleepers for overnight accommodation.
People sleeping rough are vulnerable and at an increased risk during extreme weather events.
When the SA Govt calls a Code Red or Code Blue, Baptist Care SA responds by opening the doors of the WestCare Church to anyone experiencing homelessness.
We provide a safe place to sleep overnight, a sleeping bag to keep, nutritious meals, hot showers, laundry facilities and connection with further support.
By remaining open overnight, Baptist Care SA offers kindness and connection to those who are most vulnerable in our community.
We are at 11 Millers Court, Adelaide.
We are open each weekday from 9am to 1pm.
Baptist Care SA acknowledges we work on the lands of the Kaurna, Peramangk and Boandik people. We respect the ongoing skilful custodianship of lands, skies and waters and the continuous deep cultural connection with Country. We pay respect to Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from all Countries, Nations and Mobs.
