See the ways to donateI am quite sure that none of you are aware that an old friend we see each time we log onto the portal is about to pass a milestone. “Thought of the Week”, that wonderful saying and associated reflection on your portal is about to turn 5! Created with the intention of helping staff explore the organisation’s values, Thought of the Week began in November 2014 with this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt…
A quote I like so much that I used it again in June 2019.
Since those beginnings in 2014 there have been some 216 offerings. Along the way, we have heard from people like Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jnr, Einstein, and even Elvis whose quote used in Feb 2015 still rates amongst my favorites.
Our model to this point has been that I have chosen the thoughts and written the reflections. However as we approach this milestone I believe it might be time to change and invite staff to submit their own sayings that reflect our values of integrity, compassion, empowerment and innovation for me to reflect on. Indeed if you are feeling brave you may even have a go at writing the reflection. Of course, I can’t promise to use each one but I am hoping that as we move forward this old friend will become even more ours than mine.
